A junior teeing off at last years Festival of Golf Held at the terrific Twin Waters Golf Club

Over the past few months 1000’s of junior golfers have played in local Pump Golf 9-Hole Shootout events at participating venues across Australia.

The local event winners were rewarded with trophies and golfing products donated by the host professionals and from PGA Pump Golf sponsors and supporters, however the biggest prize winners were yet to be revealed.

Of the hundreds of juniors to win 9-hole Shootouts, 80 lucky youngsters have now had their names drawn out of the barrel as winners of the golfing trip of a lifetime, with the junior golfers now eagerly packing their bags and looking towards the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and the 2009 Pump Junior Festival of Golf.

To be held at the magnificent Novotel Twin Waters Resort and the challenging Twin Waters Golf Club from December 8, the Pump Junior Festival of Golf again promises to be four days of golfing fun those fortunate enough to be involved will never be likely to forget.

Conducted on the same week as the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca Cola, the Festival of Golf features two rounds of competition golf at Twin Waters Golf Club, expert coaching and tuition from PGA Professionals and plenty of prizes, while the juniors will also experience a VIP trip to the Australian PGA Championships at the nearby Hyatt Regency Coolum, a tour which includes a visit to the media centre and an up-close-and-personal look at some of Australia’s leading players, with the likes of Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott, Michael Sim and Rod Pampling in action, while former world number one Fijian Vijay Singh is set to make a special PGA Championship appearance.

Australian tour professional Peter O'Malley will be attending this years BBQ with the Stars

Another highlight of the Festival of Golf is the BBQ with the Stars, where three leading touring professionals in Peter O’Malley, Stuart Appleby and Scott Strange are confirmed starters. At the special barbeque the juniors not only get to participate in a Q & A session with the three international stars, they will also get to watch them demonstrate the skills that have made them famous on the Twin Waters aqua driving range.

And the Festival of Golf also has an international flavour this year with young players from Samoa and New Zealand confirmed, while more juniors from Japan and Tahiti have been invited to attend the event.

James Bannan from Growling Frog in Victoria will be there, as will Royal Canberra’s Jack Beuno and Nicolas Giles from the NSW-Victorian border town of Cobram-Barooga. Jennifer Hill from the Vines Golf Club will make the trip from her home in Perth, while Bonnie Doon junior member Blake Tipper will head north from Sydney. And while it probably won’t take Abbey Crook quite as long to get to Twin Waters from nearby Nambour, she is likely to be just as excited as those travelling from all corners of the country about taking part in what is a special week of golf.

They are just some of the 80 talented young golfers set to be spoiled at the luxurious Novotel Twin Waters Resort from Tuesday, December 8, at what is certain to be a unique golfing experience.
